What type of reports does the Town Accountant provide? The Town Accountant is required by Town By-law to report monthly expenditures to the Board of Selectmen and Advisory Committee. These reports are available for the general public to review either at Town Hall or the Library. Should a resident or other interested party have a need for a particular report, please contact the office and it will be provided to you. All financial records, with the exception of personal employee information, are available to the public.
Is there any type of audit done by an outside, independent entity? The Town is audited annually by an independent Certified Public Accountant. The reports will be posted on this web site. The annual reports submitted by the School Department to the Department of Education are also audited by the same firm.
What role does the State have in the oversight of financial operations of the Town? The Town of Cohasset is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and therefore is required to conduct its financial affairs and reporting in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Department of Revenue and Massachusetts General Laws. Many different types of reports are submitted either weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually. These include payroll, expenditures, revenues, debt and cash and investments.

If I have a question about an accounts payable check, who do I call? Accounts payable is handled by Jane Henderson. She can be reached at (781) 383-4110
If I am not sure if a tax bill was calculated or assessed correctly, who do I call? The Assessors’s Office calculates all tax bills. The department may be reached at (781) 383-4114.
If I have questions about the amount of a water or sewer bill, who do I call? The Water Department reads meters and issues quarterly water and sewer bills. The department may be reached at (781) 383-0057.
If I have a question about the amount outstanding on a tax, water or sewer bill, who do I call? The Treasurer/Collector’s office is responsible for the collection of all tax, water and sewer bills. The department may be reached at (781) 383-4102.
Where do I go to pay or contest a parking ticket? The Town Manager serves as the Parking Clerk for the Town of Cohasset. The department may be reached at (781) 383-4105.
