Question: How do I request to be placed on the agenda of an upcoming meeting of the Board of Selectmen?
Answer: Requests must be placed in writing or sent by e-mail to the Town Manager. The letter or e-mail should clearly state the purpose of the agenda item to ensure the matter is properly within the jurisdiction of the Selectmen. All supporting information for consideration by the Selectmen must be provided to the Town Manager's office no later than the Thursday prior to the Selectmen's meeting at which the issue will be discussed
Question: What is the best way for a citizen to learn about town finances?
Answer: Interested citizens are encouraged to request a meeting with the Town Manager to discuss municipal finance and town finances. In addition, in January of each year a link to the Town Manager's Budget Message for the upcoming fiscal year will be posted on the town's web site.
Question: How do I learn about job vacancies, and how do I apply for a vacancy?
Answer: Unless a vacancy is to be filled through a union promotion, all job vacancies will be advertised in the Cohasset Mariner. In some cases, the position will also be advised in other publications such as the Patriot Ledger, Boston Globe and professional journals.
